Fatma Maged, a member of the Ottawa chapter, is also a member of Grandmothers to Grandmothers campaign of the Ottawa group of volunteer Grannies, under the Stephen Lewis Foundation. She helped to organize the Granny Gathering of 2017, and sewed dozens of cloth bags given out to participant members.
The Gathering is a celebration of the 10th anniversary of the Campaign supporting the African grandmothers in raising the AIDS orphaned grandchildren. Fatma participated in a full day workshop and an afternoon in conversation with Stephen Lewis and his daughter Ilana Landsberg Lewis, the co-founder of the SLF and some African grandmothers who came for this celebration.
