The population of Canadian Muslim women has reached 513,380 in 2011, according to the National Household Survey (NHS), up from 276,075 in 2001.
Muslim females are 48.7% of total Muslim population, 3.1% of all females in Canada.
In university education, Muslim women are leaders among faith communities. There are enough doctorate degree holders (3,640) to staff the academic faculty of a university.
In 2010, the median income of Muslim females was $15,763, more than a third less than the median income of $24,606 of all women in Canada.
There were 31,825 lone or single parent families headed by a woman, a family form that defies both the extended family system and the traditional Muslim family model in which there is a full time homemaker and a male breadwinner.
2.5 million Muslim women are eligible to vote in the next federal election.
