The Canadian Council of Muslim Women (CCMW) is accepting proposals for our Inaugural Academic Forum, to be hosted in Fall 2013. We encourage young Muslim women in graduate or postgraduate research programs to submit abstracts for our Board of Director’s consideration.
Our goal is to showcase the research of young scholars in the humanities and social sciences, with an emphasis on issues that affect young Canadian Muslim women. We hope that the next generation of scholars are able to share their research in a collaborative setting.
Applicant’s research should address one or more of the following subjects as they pertain to CCMW’s mandate and projects: Islamic theology, Canadian family law, Muslim family law, diaspora issues, education, social issues, civil liberties, human rights, women’s rights, gender theory, philosophy, human security, and international law.
Conference presenters will be organized into panels in accordance with their subjects, and given 10-15 minutes of presentation time, with time for Q&A.
Submissions should include:
- Title of the proposal;
- A brief, 50-word abstract suitable for the conference programme;
- A 300-word proposal for the presentation.
- Full contact information for the proposer(s), including name, address, email and institutional affiliation.
Deadline for Submissions: Sept 15th 2013
Please submit to ccmwcanada@gmail.com, with the subject line Proposal: CCMW Inaugural Academic Forum.
Best of luck to all applicants.
Please note that there is no compensation for travel or accommodation for participants.
